Their drinks were enormous!!

So this post is about 5 days late because I used up all of my data and then purchased more data and used all of that too haha I would have done it on my computer but the wifi at our hotel was horrible! So finally I can put up some pictures from New Orleans!!

I absolutely love this black maxi dress from Forever 21! It was perfect for New Orleans because it’s so hot there! The humidity is out of control!! But this dress made it a little more bearable. Pairing it with my favorite  Karen Walker Super Duper Strength sunglasses was not a great idea however. Can you say sunglass-tan?! Oh well, at least they look cute 🙂

Most of the other pictures are from the French Market. They were actually shooting a commercial at the market for Popeye’s so they had a whole bunch of set designers organizing all of the produce and spices into pretty racks and cool shapes. As if the colors weren’t beautiful enough already! They had a variety of foods and handmade goodies to choose from. I just loved he atmosphere!

I’m on my way to Williamsburg, Virginia now but I will keep putting up my pictures from the remainder of the vacation until I catch up! Hopefully the wifi at this hotel is better than the last one *fingers crossed*

Back to Blogging!

Hey, everyone!

So after quite a while of being away, I’ve decided to begin blogging again! I’ve been super busy finishing up college (I just graduated from Muhlenberg College :)) and I’ve been getting ready for a 2 week vacation to New Orleans and Busch Gardens Virginia! My family and I have never been to LA before so we’re super excited! We’ll also be stopping through Memphis and Nashville on our way!

I’m so excited to get back to blogging! Now that I’m a college graduate, I’ll have plenty of time on my hands so I should be updating the blog a lot more often 🙂 Stayed tuned for pictures from my vacation!

In the meantime, here are some pictures from the past few weeks! Most of these can be found on my Instagram, kimsehn.

My graduation cap! I love Star Wars 🙂

My favorite professor and I at my graduation!

Got to go to a Who concert with my dad and my sister!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Hey everyone!

This has been such a hectic week! With so many midterms and papers due I didn’t have much time to do anything exciting lol However, Now that I actually have some free time, I decided to do some nail art to get in the spirit for St. Patrick’s Day!

IMG_1863

The picture is a little blurry but aren’t they so cute?! I started out by putting fake nails on and then painted them green once they were dry. THEN I cut off a corner of an unused kitchen sponge and painted one side with mint green nailpolish. Then you just sponge on the color and reapply whenever you need. It’s SO simple. Believe me, if I can do it, you can too. My sister can attest to my terrible nail skills!

In other news, I have gotten pretty far now in Cameron Diaz’s Body Book and it just keeps getting better and better! I find it hard to put it down and read the textbooks that I need to for school! But, of course, work comes first. Between the book and House of Cards it’s a wonder I got anything done this week at all! (If you have not heard of/seen House of Cards I suggest you go watch it right now. Two words: Kevin. Spacey. I literally invested in a Netflix account just to watch it!)

Hope you all have a great St. Patty’s Day!!

~Kim

These Are a Few of my Favorite Things…

Hey Guys! I thought I would start out by telling you guys about a few things I’m LOVING right now!

1. EcoTools Brushes: I absolutely love these brushes! I just got the 5-Piece Brush Set at Target the other day and I’m hooked. The set includes a Blush Brush, Eye Shading Brush, Eyeliner Brush, Lash and Brow Groomer, Concealer Brush and Brush case and they are all made from recycled materials! They have bamboo handles, synthetic Taklon bristles and sleek ferule made with recycled aluminum. They have a great design and the bristles are so soft! The best thing about them? The price! For the 5 piece set it was only $10.99 and I also picked up their retractable kabuki brush for $7.99!

2. The Body Book by Cameron Diaz: I saw Cameron Diaz, who I already love, on Jimmy Fallon the other night promoting this book. She really peaked my interest when she started talking about the science behind healthy living and eating. While I was out getting the EcoTool brushes at Target I came across the book and decided to get it. I’m a few chapters in and I’m hooked! Usually when I get a book, I leave it for awhile until I have absolutely nothing else to do and then I start reading lol. With this one, I saw this quote on the inside of the book sleeve and had to start immediately: “In this book there is no goal to reach in 7 days or 30 days or 365 days. The goal here is forever. And what you will earn is measured not in pounds or inches lost, but in what you will gain.” I have really started getting into a better fitness and health routine and that quote just spoke to me! Trust me, even if you’re not a fitness junkie, this book will make you want to take better care of your body ❤

3. Emily Ley: I have always had an issue with organization. I am such a forgetful person! All of those planners that people use for school just never helped me. The spaces they give you to write your daily appointments/homework/routine is just too small! Ever since I have gotten back from being abroad, where I really didn’t have to organize my day like I do when I’m at school here, I have been a bit of a basket case. So when I saw a review for Emily Ley’s Simplified Life organizers, I knew I had to check it out for myself. It’s a little expensive so I used the budget I had given myself for some new clothes. It was well worth it! I ordered one of her simplified life binders with about 6 of her inserts and used command strips to attach her sticky note pad to the front. It has really been helping me get organized! I also pre-ordered her simplified life planner and can’t wait to get that! It’s being offered at a discounted price since it isn’t coming until mid-march. I also ordered some multi-colored chevron washi tape from Etsy to make the planners pretty! Right now I am using the binder as an organizer for everything but when the planner comes, I am going to split it up. The planner will obviously be for my homework and assignments (since I am still a student), my day to day appointments (such as doctor’s appointment as extra-curricular activity meetings), and scheduling duty (since I’m an RA) and I will use my shopping list, brain dump, goals, to do list, projects, and health tracker inserts to keep track of a bunch of other important things in my everyday life. 🙂

Mine is the pink one in the front!

And here is the planner I pre-ordered

4. Cucumber Sugar Scrub: I am in love with this scrub! I first saw it on Amber Fillerup’s blog, Barefoot Blonde, and knew I had to try it. I just made it two days ago with my mom (I’m home on spring break right now :)) and I have loved using it every morning. The mint really wakes you up and the sugar is such a great, natural exfoliant. You can find the recipe here. I used 4 cups of sugar since I wanted more of an exfoliant. Amber says you shouldn’t use it every day if you put all 4 cups in but my skin has been through a lot of stress so I have been. I will probably start using it every other morning after spring break is over.

Cucmber Scrub

That’s all for now! I am really enjoying spring break but since Kristen is at a friend’s house and I am home, there’s not much to do but watch movies with my family and do homework! So that means I will definitely be posting more 🙂

Bye for now!

I’m back!!!

Hey guys! Just like my sister, The Woman in the Dress, I decided to take some time off while I was abroad. I know. I got the blog specifically to post about my time abroad. But there was so much to do and see that I barely spent any time in front of a computer (and if I did it was to eat delicious paninis and binge-watch streamed episodes of Friends and Sister Sister). I am going to try and recount my numerous adventures and see where this blog takes me. I have a bunch of great things going on right now, especially with spring break coming up, so I can’t wait to share!!

I’ll post again soon 🙂

~Kim

First week!

Hey guys! My first few days in Florence have been awesome! I started my classes yesterday at 12! I have only had my special events management and Italian classes but I can tell I’m going to love them both.

So far I have gone up to the lookout to see the view of the city from one of the highest points (it’s quite a steep trek up), taken a walking tour around the city, taken a train out to Pisa to see the leaning tower, eaten at Gusta Pizza, the best pizza place Florence has to offer (it’s a 15 minute walk from me), and so much more! Yesterday my roommates and I climbed over the pillars of the Ponte alle Grazie to watch the sunrise. I can’t even put into words how amazing it was.

I’m in a really cute little apartment right in between the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio. There’s no air conditioner and it’s a little small but I still love it. It has character :P Especially Cassiah (my roommate) and I’s climb-in closet. You literally have to climb up two levels to get to the top!

I have also taken up running while I’m here since my roommate is a cross country runner. I have started running through the city and along the Arno river as of yesterday! I don’t know how I’ve actually gotten myself up every morning to do it since we’ve been walking almost 6 hours every day (if not more!) but somehow I managed :P

Here are some pictures from the trip so far:

Finally in Florence!

So technically I arrived in Florence 2 days ago but I just turned my computer on for the first time a few minutes ago!

My first plane ride was incredible! You couldn’t have smacked the smile off my face that’s how excited I was! haha I was so in awe of the clouds when we were finally in the air. I was lucky enough to take off from JFK in the afternoon and arrive in Barcelona for the sunrise. It was perfect timing. I even loved turbulence. Probably because I’m a nerd haha It felt like a roller coaster to me! My favorite part of the flight had to be landing in Florence and looking over the beautiful city I was about to be in. The Duomo stuck out like a sore thumb. It was so beautiful!

I can’t believe I’m in such an amazing city! I’m still in the honeymoon phase, and probably will be for awhile, but right now I can’t imagine ever being affected by culture shock. The difference in culture is incredible to me! Everyone is very friendly and you get to walk in the middle of the streets (In fact I have no idea what’s a street or an alley or a sidewalk because the taxis drive everywhere).

I am living in an adorable little apartment right in the middle of the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio. When my roommate and I first got here, we immediately unpacked and went out for a self tour of the city during which we unknowingly discovered the Lookout! We kind of knew where we were going after we had to trek up the third large hill, but when we started we had no idea that was where it led haha

I love all of my roommates and have already made a few friends in the program, which is great! Unfortunately, I don’t have many photos right now because I keep forgetting to put the sim card in my camera (there are just so many other things to do!) and my iPhone has been letting me down. BUT, I am going on a walking tour with my program tomorrow and I intend to be in full tourist mode 🙂

That’s all for now but I will have more updates (and pictures) coming! Thanks for reading!!

Liebster Awards!!!

Hi guys! Finally back from RA Training! I had the best time. My staff is amazing. I really couldn’t ask for anything more. It was so hard saying goodbye to my RA family but I am so excited for Italy!! Only 4 more days!

Now onto the Liebster award nominations! Thank you to  All eyes on fashion, Stilestilo, and The Woman in the Dress for  nominating me for the Liebster Award! I’m very excited because I’m new to blogging so I wasn’t expecting anything like this 🙂

The Liebster award is given to up and coming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. The word “Liebster” is German for favorite, beloved, or dearest.

Screen shot 2013-08-16 at 8.31.12 AM

Here are the rules for the Liebster Award:

1. Each nominee must link back the person who nominated them.

2. Answer the 10 questions which are given to you by the nominator.

3. Nominate 10 other bloggers for this award who have less than 200 followers.

4. Create 10 questions for your nominees to answer.

5. Let the nominees know that they have been nominated by going to their blog and notifying them.

Here are the questions that All Eyes on Fashion asked me:

1. Who knows you the best?

Undoubtedly, the person who knows me the best is my twin sister, Kristen. You’d be hard pressed to find something she doesn’t know about me!

2. What’s your dream location spot?

I’m assuming this means the location I would want to end up in (live in). In that case, definitely New York City. There’s no place I would rather call home!

3. What are the 5 things you must bring on a vacation?

                     1. Sunscreen – I have had a bad habit lately of abandoning sunscreen in order to try and tan (I have a very hard time, even though I’m Brazilian) but it’s just not good for your skin! I always bring sunscreen with me wherever I go.

                     2. Red Lipstick – I will usually only choose to wear it when I’m going out somewhere fancy but I still need to bring it with me. Ever since I was a little girl I have been obsessed with red lips!

                     3. A Maxi Dress – This is such an easy thing to throw on if you’re running out of time to get ready or you forgot to shave your legs 🙂 They’re also very easy to accessorize!

                     4. Every Pair of Sunglasses I Own – I love sunglasses. They are probably my biggest style obsession! I just bought a new pair of aviators yesterday 🙂 I honestly feel that you can never have too many. I always bring an absurd amount of sunglasses just so I have a lot to choose from!

                     5. Arcona Eye Dew – I saw this on Barefoot Blonde and decided to try it for myself. It works wonders! I use it every day before I put on makeup and every night before I go to bed. Definitely recommend this product!

4. Do you like ombre hair and would you consider trying it?

I love the look of ombre hair but I would never try it. Unless I start going gray I never plan on coloring my hair!

5. How do you like new trend on nails – art or not?

I love nail art. There is definitely an understated elegance to basic nails but nail art really catches my eye. Whenever I have nail art on my nails I can’t stop looking at them!

6. Whos’ the style icon for you?

I am inspired by a bunch of different people. I really don’t look for one style icon in particular. I once took a style icon quiz and it told me my style icon was Jennifer Aniston because “Just like America’s sweetheart, your style is timeless, elegant and sophisticated. You know what hairstyles, clothes and makeup look best on you and know how to effortlessly work in a few trendy pieces” so I guess that works. I also love Heidi Klum and Blake Lively’s style.

7. What is the best outfit for a first date?

Skinny jeans (preferably ones with zippers at the ankles) with pumps and a top that brings out your eyes. I, personally, like green because my eyes are hazel.

8. What was the reason you started a blog?

I started a blog because one of my co-workers heard that I was going abroad and said it would be a great idea to start a travel blog. I wanted to talk about more than just travel so here I am!

9. What book would be your best summer read?

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte or The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory.

10. What is the best advice someone gave you?

My mom always told me to just to be myself and not let anyone or anything take that away from me. I never let go of that advice.

Here are the questions that The Woman in the Dress asked me:

1. What are the 5 words that best describe you?

Positive, energetic, compassionate, adventurous, and loving

2. How would you define your style?

I wouldn’t. I am a very indecisive person and I am influenced by so many different kinds of fashion. I could be boho-chic one day and classic Audrey Hepburn the next 😛

3. What is your favorite item in your closet and why?

My thigh-high, zippered, chesnut, GoJane.com boots. I wear them with cream colored leg warmers every chance I get during the fall and winter!

4. What is your favorite thing to do in your downtime?

I love to watch old reruns of Will and Grace, HIMYM, Everybody Loves Raymond, Friends, and Seinfeld with my twin sister.

5. If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?

Brazil because that’s where my mom was born.

6. Hot or cold?

               Hot

7. Do you shop online? If you do, what are 3 of your favorite online stores?

YES! 3 of my favorite stores are Asos, Forever21, and Nasty Gal.

8. What is your biggest pet peeve?

Oh god I have too many. Not having chapstick with me, umbrellas being opened indoors, slow-walkers, not walking on the right side of people, etc.

9. Have any guilty pleasures? Share at least one.

“We Can’t Stop” by Miley Cyrus and watching Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl

10. Why did you start your blog?

Study Abroad (more detailed answer in first set of questions.)

Here are the questions that Stilestilo asked me:

1. What is your favorite designer?

It’s a tie between Burberry and Alice and Olivia

2. Why is he/she your favorite designer?

I love Burberry’s trench coats (who doesn’t?!) and Alice and Olivia has such a classic chic look to it!

3. If you could choose any city to live in, which one would it be?

                Definitely New York City!

4. What language would you like to speak?

Portuguese because my mother is fluent.

5. Who is the most important person in your life?

Hands down, my twin sister, Kristen.

6. Why did you start blogging?

               Study abroad

7. Would you rather wear heels or flats?

As much as I love heels I would have to say flats. When I wear heels I usually end up barefoot by the end of the day 🙂

8. What sport do you like the most?

I like to play softball but I like watching football.

9. What do you think about the new issue on the latest Vogue: About cat eye sunglasses?

This is actually the only trend I have ever been ahead of. I saw a pair of cat eye sunglasses at Aldo AGES ago and I just fell in love with them! I bought it in both colors they had (black and tortoise). I’m obsessed with them.

10. What do you think about my blog?

I think it’s really cute! I would love it if you could find someone to take your photographs and edit them to look a bit more professional because the outfits are adorable!

And here who I nominate:

1.  The Charm of Life

2. The Woman in the Dress

3. Veloria in Velvet

4. Total Stephanie Move

5. ALL EYES ON FASHION

6. My Crazy New york Post-Grad Life

7. The fashion glitter

8. Blogthebutterfly

9. Fashion is just a Trend

10. Blog by the M

RA Training

First and foremost I would like to thank those of you who nominated me for the Liebster award! I am so honored 🙂 Unfortunately, I can’t make my picks or answer the questions until I get back from RA training on the 20th, but I promise it will be the first thing I do when I get home!

Second, I’m just going to do an update about how RA training has been! The past two days have been incredible! My staff for my building this year is amazing and the whole RA staff in general is incredible!! So many wonderful people 🙂 I feel so blessed to be here with everyone. I am almost sad to be going abroad because it means I will have to leave my RA family 😦 But then I think of Italy and I feel a little bit better haha

Today the whole staff went to an Iron Pigs game (the minor league team for the Phillies). I had funnel cake and chicken fingers, did the cotton eye joe AND the Gangnam Style dance with my staff, and got to see a fireworks show after the game 🙂 It was absolutely incredible and I can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

As always, thank you for reading!

xxKim
